Go slow and be careful when removing the inner door cover. You don't want to break the plastic tabs along the bottom. Those are the only thing holding the bottom of the door panel tight.

FWIW - as Craby stated, the factory service manual is by far the best one out there. Chilton's, Haynes, or any of the others are all pretty limited on information relating to your door repair. They are also pretty pathetic when doing other repairs. They may tell you to remove the "squigit", but to show a pick of where it is or what it looks like.

The autotrix website has an absolutely great writeup on removing the door panel, with lots of pics that show every screw and exactly how to take it off without damage.

Check it out: 93-02 Firebird/Camaro F-body Window Motor Install Instructions
Select the "Window Motor" link on the upper left of the page. It will show you everything you need to do to remove the inner door panel.

Are you guys saying that the thing has to be removed to find the old clip or also to replace a new clip for the door lock remember Im not replacing the lock only putting on a clip so the lock will stay then.

you have to remove the cover to get to the inside of the door. thats where you have to get to to replace the clip. i just stated that while your in there look for the old one. if nothing else so it will wont rattle around.

It really isn't that hard to do. Did you read the procedure to remove the door panel on the Autotrix site? Once you get the panel off, the rest of the project takes maybe ten minutes.
