How does an electric fuel pump inside a tank not start a fire?

there is not spark or flame on a cig. although the lower quality ones will spark once in a great while. dont know why or what it is but have noticed a random spark on the cherry over the years. a lit match is a whole different story.

Yes I like the show. But one of the things they busted I have seen happen. Burnout competitions can have tire fires from the burn out. They trashed a 4th gen firebird trying it out and nothing. I watched a 75 Chevy 1/2 ton scorch his bedside (custom paint too) durring the burn out. OH well.

I bet you could light gas with a cigarette if you realy wanted to, and didn't let the fumes dissopate. Looking back too, I shouldve reworded my last post.
