i want to make my car a little faster, im thinking a turbo, performance chip and a cold air intake. if you have any comments on my ideas or have other ideas that will add some speed feel free to comment.

im going to move this to the right section,,, well maybe. what yr 3.8 do you have? being we are talking bout a 79 i would say your on the right track, turbo or supercharger, orrrr 50 shot of nos.

 

Why are you calling it a "79'"?

 

If it is a 79 3.8 then a V8 swap is you cheapest route. The older 3.8's are good motors but they where designed to handle 125 HP/ Without going thru the whole motor I would not trust it north of 150 HP. You can pep them up with a 4 barrel/intake and headers. Anything more then that and you are building a grenade. Also if you go north of 150HP your going to have to address the tranmission. It is most likely a 200 metric tranny and they are not strong.

 

I think he meant '97, not sure though.

 

best way to make your 3.8L faster? make a craigslist ad for it. then get a z28

not being a deuce, just saying the v6's arent made to be performance vehicles. they are base models

ok well theres allot you can do to the 97 3.8 to get hp. 250 is fairly easy, 300 is a little spendy but if done right and you have some know how with a wrench not to much. check out music mans thread and youll get some good ideas. like said headers, better air intake/cold air intake.
