Default How do I remove a licnse plte that has no bracket? want to takeoff stack of Reg tags

Hello all,

How do I remove a licnse plte that has no bracket? want to takeoff stack of Reg tags

I have no bracket frame or fancy logo around the license plate indentation area

I need to avoid theft as this is a high incidence at the start of the year

I usually vertical slice a registration tag with a utility knife, but there are a stack of old ones on top of each other (make theft of reg tags more favorable to / easier for the bad guys) and to fully access w/ a sharp putty knife, warm water and maybe a hair dryer, I need to remove the old ones in order to satsify my apartment manager's indoor parking rules very soon, so time is of the essence

Is there a bolt behind the 2 flat tip screws?

Or does that just get screwed on tight clockwise into the frame?

*Hopefully, it'll be an easy 1 hand job on both screws

It seems I have the similar plate system like the attached Indiana resident who moved to N. Mexico

Thanks in advance

a ph call w/ 1 of my freelance mechanic friends revealed that there's no back bolt like the square kind u find on an old erector set toy

will keep ya'll advised on progress

of removal and if water and a hair dryer worked as shown in 1 video on yt

it appears a stack of reg stickers on top of each other attracts registration thieves

this sadly is a rampant problem nowadays

It was a lot easier than I thought

After loosening w/ a flathead s driver, I Manually I screwed on the flat head screws which thankfully were not rusted

and as u can see from the pic attached, gorilla glue duct taped it to temporarily fasten it

there is a frame, not a fancy one, but none the less a plastic black thin frame

I applied as pics show, hand sanitizer to loosen the stack from years 2018 to 2024 (6 yrs worth)

and applied a hot blow dryer to loosen

it fell off in 1 fell swoop, just scraping in one direction till ALL the colors representing the different year tags were removed

and then I vertical sliced thru the 5 and zeros

I hope this was helpful

Here's a vid of a fellow Californian who removed a stack of reg tags

tools and residue of the peelings moistened with hand sanitizer / alcohol, reverse side of lic plate and lic plate frame
