How do i know what engine is in my car
I just bought myself a 95 z28 and the guy I purchased it from told me it had a corvette LS1 engine in it. now im curious how do i know if the engine is an LS1 or an LT1 because i wanna know if he was pulling my leg or not

are you able to post a picture of the engine? Its pretty easy to tell just by looking at it, essentially, an LS1 will have a black plastic intake on top, the LT1 won't.

ok I see so my car must have an LT1 because the intake isn't black but then again the LS1 has aluminum heads if I
remeber correctly and my mechanic told me the heads on my car are aluminum or does that just mean its an LT1 with
aluminum heads

it would be easier to just post a picture honestly. that way we can tell you with 100% accuracy

LT1 and LS1 both have aluminum heads, LS1 has an all aluminum block too. The top pic is the LT1 and the bottom is an LS1. The LS1 does not fit perfectly under the hood of a 93-97 Camaro. The catfish nose was raised almost 3/4 of an inch to clear the LS1 engine.
LT1 and LS1 were both used in Corvettes, but that does not make them all Corvette engines. Software in the PCM changed the way the engines ran giving the Corvette a few more HP than the Camaro. Essentually the internals are identical.
