which hose is this?
after listening to my video that i have in my signature, there is a high pitches, metallic sound coming from the engine. i just looked at the comments and someone posted that it is a "smog or AIR pump running" and looked in my engine bay and noticed that a 1 or 1.5 inch hose is kinked. could this be the source of the problem? it runs into the passenger side header pipe

Ya I think that might be your AIR system. Not sure if it would make that sound or not. I would try to unkink it while it is running and see if the noise stops. Either way you should unkink that hose since it does serve a purpose no matter what it is for.
yep thats for the emmissions air inlet. goes into the exhaust manifold and should hook into the other exhaust manifold and then to the air pump. the only time the air pump should be running is when the motor is warming up. if its on all the time then something is wrong and u should have a trouble code stored, scan it to see. for the emmissions to work right u will need to figure out a way to get that kink out. maybe a steel elbow.
thanks for the help guys. did you get a chance to watch and listen to the video in my signature? you can see a comment right below it that someone says it will keep making that noise until the cat is warmed up. can someone PM camaro69 and ask him to read this because i am on an iphone and it wont let me. thanks!
ive listened to that and wondered if u had some kind of vacumm leak. it sounds alot like a iac valve to me but because its a recording i could be wrong. can u locate it a little better? do u have a aftermarket iac mount on the bottom of the thottle body? i have a tpis one that makes that noise and was bad till i got the idle and iac set right. i learned that if the butterfly on the tb is closed to far the iac will be open all the time, so if u adjust the stop screw on the tb so it would lower the idle then the computer will adjust the airflow with the iac. i had to adjust the set screw to open the butterfly on the tb to lower the idle. kinda the oposite of a carb motor. lol.
Watching the video, it's hard to say exactly what is whistling. Oh, and you got some water in my eye too, thanks!
You can try disconnecting that kinked AIR hose and see if the noise stops. If the whistle is still there, put the hose up to your ear and see if you hear it coming from the pump.
But really, the AIR pump puts out a low volume puff of air. It doesn't have the pressure of an air compressor, or even a bicycle pump for that matter.
Your noise sounds more constant like vacuum (either a leak or intake draw), not rhythmic like a pump.
