Default Hood Paint

I just picked up a new SS hood yesterday for $200 (if I can find some some ZR1's for around that price my life will be complete!) and am not a body/paint guy by any means but would like to be able to at least paint to match for the summer. I intend to get a full paint job this fall when I can afford it but for now I would like to try to paint it myself to match the car. The only dilemma I'm currently running into is that all the advice I'm coming across when searching the internet seems to be for steel hoods and the one I just purchased is fiberglass. Any advice/tips would be appreciated. (It appears the hood has already been primered.)

Are you taking it to a body shop for the complete? Or attempting that on your own too?

If all you're looking for is something to get you through the summer, with the intention of repainting the whole car, then rattle can it. Fiberglass panels don't require any different finish paint than what's used for metal. You're good to go as long as your glass hood was prepped and primed properly.

I'll be taking it to Maaco in the fall for the body work/paint job(I know their reputation but I'm saving for a wedding so I can't afford too much!)

I painted my hood myself, and my car is also white. I went to Napa and had them mix up a quart to match my car. I have an air compressor and spray gun also. It's only like the third time I've painted anything on a car, but it turned out pretty darn good. No one notices that it's not perfect, because it's white. Also, be sure to use enough clear coat that the shine matches the rest of the car. I found that to be maybe the most important when you do it yourself. I say go for it!
