Question High Volume High Pressure Oil Pump ? 94 Z28 LT1

I'm getting the 350 LT1 rebuilt to stock and wanted to know if i should use a HVHP oil pump with the 3/4 pic-up tube or if the stock pump will do just fine. I'm not bringing it to the track just a good cruzing toy.

Hello, your stock or a stock replacement pump is more than enough for your car. Especially if your engine is rebuilt, you should have good clearances and won't lose pressure through worn bearings and such. Just be sure to use a name brand pump that fits your application- this is one area that you shouldn't cut corners on. Good luck with your fresh engine.

Also, a high volume pump moves the oil out of the pan faster, which would mean you would need to install a larger capacity oil pan. With a stock capacity pan, the oil will get sucked up and might not make it back down in time for the pump to catch it again. Bearings don't like to run dry.

Smile Thanks for clearing that up !

We have alot to learn, although we have worked on several cars and 1 engine swap, several trannys, emission stuff, I've never had a toy before
and didn't want to screw it up. Probably will have many questions to ask.
Thanks !!
