plugged catalytic converter, plugged fuel filter, plugged air filter, failing maf, failing map, low compression, and I'm sure I'm missing several others

One you missed is a stray cat in the intake!

test for vacuum leak if you feel that may be the issue. test fuel pressure, test for plugged cat,

So far that is the almost prefect description of a car with a plugged Cat. FYI if you have a vacuum leak it would cause high RPM and if it was really bad it would set the check engine light with a lean code.

To test for it you need to remove an o2 sensor and install a pressure gage and measure the back pressure. Anything over 1 PSI is a issue. Yours is most likely 3+ PSI. If you have access to a welder you can drill a 1/4" hole in front of the cat and do the pressure test there. In fact I did one for my neighbor the other day and the 1/4" hole leaked enough he could drive it after.

If you do not want to drill your exhaust

@craby..I think i did, i tried the valve lash video but question is though is...does the push rod have to have very little spin or does it have to be tight on there cause i dont wana bend a push rod....

if you can move it up and down its not at 0. adjust in as you are moving the pushrod up and down, not hard, and when it stops you stop, then adjust in 1/4 or 1/2 turn in. i prefer to set mine while engine is running, after getting them as close as i can with engine not running then set with it idling.

this ones pretty good for not running.
