help with Service engine codes
My 97 v6 Camaro with a 2009 Long Block , CAI, Headers and tune has started throwing the following codes
p0175 and p0172 powertrain system too rich bank 2 and 1
I can clear the faults and a few days later it will pop on again.
The codes are so infrequent that it is hard to determine if anything specific is causing the issue
Any ideas ?

THe year of the long block should not matter as long as you used the intake and injectors that came with your 97 engine. The series III engine's only difference is the size of the intake valves wihch are .030" larger than the series II engine. Cam, pistons, compression and balance shaft are all the same. Who did your tune, and what did they do for you? I would venture to guess that is the root of the problem. The Series II and III 3800s have a very complex fuel and timing mapping that is a challenge for most average techs to mess with. There are some shops that wont mess with them at all. I have read in a V6 build that the computer's software is as complex as a Corvette Z06. If you have only added headers and a CAI, and have not messed with the engine's internals then you should be able to run the factory profile and the computer will compensate for the headers. Make sure that the MAF and IAT are both connected properly and that you still have the screen on your MAF! That screen is there to act as a wind tunnel and remove the swirling air to give the sensor a clean formatted airflow over it. It will throw off your air in readings which will cause the computer to get the fuel mapping wrong thus throwing the codes.

The issue doesnt happen all the time since the day I posted this message it hasnt happened again.
So I am not sure if fuel pressure is an issue, it does have a new stock pump and filter already installed.
Yes the long block is 2009 but everything else is 97 , the PCM has a custom tune.
Also this happened recently and the car has been on the rode in this configuration since last yr.

Sound like the 2009 Long block is not a factor. How is your fuel mileage been doing? The first question I would try to answer is this a car that runs perfect all the time except when the light comes on or is the a car that runs kinda rich most of the time and sometimes it bad enough to set the lite.
Could be A dirty MAF sensor, O2 sensors even a Vacuum leak or injector issue. Of course Fuel pressure is the first check if it is intermitant. Your going to have to check while it is happening.
