Help please- fuel pump??
Ok guys I really need help. I Have a 1998 Z28
This is what my car did:
I was driving and suddenly my car started to sputter and then died. I was able to start it and pull it to the side of the road where it died again. I was able to start it again, but after 10 seconds (maybe less) it would die again. When it did start, it ran really rough and even backfired. I kept trying to start it and finally it would not start at all. After having it towed, I took it home and later tried to start it, which it did just as before. Again it would start a few times, but the more I tried it wouldn't start at all.
Here's what I've done and tried: I changed the fuel filter thinking this could be it, but had the same results. I checked the MAF sensor but it was fine. I checked the Fuel Pump Fuse and Fuel Pump Relay both fine. And finally I bought a Fuel Pressure Gauge and checked the pressure. It gave off no pressure at all. I made sure I was using it correctly by using it on another car, which gave off plenty of PSI.
So does it look like my fuel pump is out? I have no pressure but what's weird it will start for a few seconds. Could it be the Fuel Pressure Regulator? Any other ideas?? I really hope it's not the fuel pump cause I hear it's a pain to change.
Thank you guys
Mike

well if it isnt a fuel pump i would be surprised. there are a mess of threads on here about changing one. also some nice pictures and directions on how to make a trap door and cover to allow easier access to the pump so u dont have to take the tank out.
