my gauages have a mind of there own right know like all the gauages r turnin on speedometer shotin up and down when i floor it it doesnt go past 3000 rpms and at idle goes from 500 rpms to 1500 rpms there is no cat converter

 

I've heard some people talk about having the same dilemma when there alternator or battery was going out. Can you hear the car changing idle speed, or is it just the gauge doing so?

so your gauges are correct, your ENGINE has a mind of its own?

 

that happened when my alternator went out in my old 94 Z. My guages went alil hay wire. Autozone or schucks can check it out for you for free. It doesnt hurt to have it checked so you can rule that out if its not the problem.
