Default help with cooling system

I have a 95 z28 lt1 new thermostat the car will stay at temp at idle all day when i drive it either in town or on the freeway it slowly heats up toward overheating i never let it get there i have had the car only a couple weeks. cant wait to get this figured out so i can take over a 20 minute ride thanks for any help looking foward to being a z owner fergie24

Have you flushed the radiator, bleed the system? Are your fans working?

i have bleed the system and have one fan working its the one on the right side and i have not flushed the system. just started looking at fans only one comes on even with ac on max thanks for the help

have u scanned for trouble codes? auto or manual trans?

It is common for the temperature gauge to fluctuate quite a bit while in use, according to other posters here. This was something that concerned me early on, also. The stock thermostat begins to open at about 180F, but the fans don't start kicking on until about 215F. Please correct this if I am mistaken -- this information has been gleaned from the pages of this forum during my six months of ownership...

This has been brought up before, is your front lower air dam still there? It's purpose is to scoop up air while cruising to cool off the engine/cooling system.

i dont think the air dam is there it just goes under the front of the car and stops before it gets under the radiatior and has holes in it i was wondering if something was missing. i guess i need to find out what goes under there. thanks kirk
