Default Help with 2002 camaro

I have the chance to purchase a 2002 SS Coupe 4-speed automatic, from a friend for $4,500 that has 50,400 original miles on it. There is no real body damage or anything, but both airbags have deployed and I would need to replace them. I was wondering if anyone could help me in the search for cheap airbags, and if anyone knows how difficult of a job this would be without going to a dealership. I am a college student, and I am on a fairly tight budget.. but I really need a new car. Yet, I do have some playing around cash. Is it possible for under say, $800?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

well, the steering wheel one isnt that hard, i had to remove it to do ignition switch, but it takes special tools(my GF's dad is a mechanic) and alot of strength to put back on. i dont know about the passenger side one, but i dont beleave it's required to pass inspections anyway. but i think you can pick up a airbag for like 200 bucks, thats what my GF's dad said he sells em for anyway. he also takes the ones out of wrecked cars, that didnt deploy, and sets em off its fun.

but, if you can get it done at a dealer or mechanic, do it. it is one of those things that isnt hard, but is a hassle and takes time, and gets annoying.

I understand what you're saying, thanks for the information. I will definitely consider just taking it to a mechanic, instead of messing with it myself. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the car.

regardless, that money for that car is good if it is in good condition. a small bump can send some airbags off.
