In addition to what Gorn stated, the "dead head" test does not really show how good the pump is. A good pump has both the proper pressure and volume. Choking the return line only shows the max pressure but does not give any indication of fuel volume. A weak pump may be able to build up pressure, but fail to deliver enough fuel to keep the engine happy. One of the better way to test the pump and regulator, but inconvenient to do, is to drive at WOT for around 15-20 seconds (depending on how much open road is in front of you) and see if the pressure holds while the engine is demanding maximum fuel.

Thanks for the insight, I like the WOT method lol. I live in a town where there are nothing but cornfields and cows so open road is not an issue. I may just be doing this test soon

lol i planned on having a passenger for the gauge lol, dont really need to total this car. What pressure should i be looking for?

on the fuel rail towards the front of the upper intake, there is a cap and a valve(similar to a tire valve stem). if you turn the key to the on position it should push out fuel...mine hardly does
