gears
some come with 2:73 some came with 3:08 they came with limited slip and open rearends. the only way you'll know for sure is to pull the pan and count the teeth. the limited slip will have a spring loaded clutch type carrier. sick
well sometimes both will spin like its a limited slip and others only one is it possible for an open rear-end to do this or do you think its a worn out LS. will there be a stamp on the housing telling me or would i have to take it apart?
i believe limited slip has a small tag telling you the type of gear oil that needs to be put in it and it also has a stamp on the housing but i'm not sure how it is coded. i think it's LS but i'm not sure it may be a P. open only spins one. it must be limited slip. actually GM called their limited slip rearends positive traction. you have open, locked, and positive traction. locked is illegal for street use. with a locked rearend you car handles like crap and unless you only travel in a straight line it puts alot of stress on your axles. when making turns or going around curves one wheel has to spin faster and if you have a locker this can't happen. can be very dangerous on wet surfaces. oh well i'm just rambling. sick.
