gear
Hi. i just bought a 94 camaro. its was originally a v6 and the guy i bought it from swapped an lt1 into it. ithas flowmasters exhaust and a hypertech power programmer.when i step on it, it seems much slower than wut it should be. my freinds stock97 trans am beats it.were thinking it has a 2:73 gear set up. if thats the case, do u think switching it to a 3:73 would make a big difference? becuz right now i cant even break the tires loose from a dead stop. thank you.

RE: gear
yes. its an automatic. i do have a transmission problem i believe. tomorrow im taking it in to get a transmission flush. i bought some lucas transmission slip fluid to put in when they fill it back up. the tranny does slip a lot. especially when i step on it. could the tranny flush and anti slip fluid fix the problem?

RE: gear
one more question. the car has a hypertech power programmer. some people are saying that could be the problem. they thinkit may betuned for less torque andmore top speed. not sure if thats even possible to do with the programmer, but do u think that could also be an issue?

RE: gear
Re-gearing the the rear will help off the line acceleration. Make sure that the LT1 is out of a camaro or car. If it is out of a truck it will be set up for torque and not horse power. I would reccomend that if thi is the case you need to swap in a better grind camshaft., make sure the ECM is out of the correct vehicle for your igntition/fuel managment system, make sure that any "flashing" of the EEPROM (ECM) or any chip installed matches accordingly too. The transmisson may have been (should have been) swapped too. If it is out of a truck it may also be conrtibuting to the lack of acceleration. Truck tranmissons are geared wider than a cars and may contribute to poorer performance. Try and figure out what was swapped in, you can find the part numbers and or ORGINIAL VIN numbers stamped on the block of the engine, transmisson, to aide in figure out what your running to improve your diagnosistics. Remember that transmisson ratios will inheritently affect rearend ratios
