In may my family is thinking about taking a vacation to Florida. We live in Missouri. Most if not all will be interstate driving. My question is can my car ( 1997 Camaro SS, 6 speed ) get 26 or better miles per gallon with 2 people and light luggage. I have been told it could by some friends, but figured I would ask fellow camaro drivers!

I've heard them getting right at 30mpg before also, kinda far fetched? Also is there anything I should do before a long trip like that? I am changing the oil the day before, checking coolant, getting new tires. I have falken tires right now(lasted for three years) is that average or should I look to a different tire??

If you haven't done it I would HIGHLY recommend running the seafoam process through your car.
My MPG went from 14 MPG (2 gas tanks of gas) when I bought my car 1 month ago to 16.5 MPG - 17 MPG now!
I have done intake and exhaust and my biggest improvement was running the seafoam process. It takes all the carbon build-up out of the motor freeing up lost HP and gas mileage.
There is a great write up somewhere here...I will post it when I find it.
