Question fuel pump upgrade

Hello everyone, car is a 1995 z28. So like a lot of people I am upgrading my fuel pump to the racetronix pump with the harness upgrade. I have a question about how the pump sits in the sending unit bucket. It sounds like the hole in the bottom of the bucket should have an o-ring or rubber grommet or something? right where the sock filter fits? When I took the old pump out of the bucket I did not see anything so I put the new pump in and re-glued the top of the bucket. The new pump doesn't really fit in the bucket the same and it can move around. Is this ok or does the bottom of the bucket really need to be sealed with an o-ring/grommet? I hope I am describing well enough. Thanks for any input.

It's been a while since I did mine, but I don't believe there is any thing. I'm also pretty sure I used one or two hose clamps to hold the pump in place.

Thanks for the reply! I am thinking you used the hose clamps to secure the bucket to the sending unit. My pump is actually loose inside the bucket/housing no way to clamp it. I guess my concern is that the bucket wont hold fuel and that would defeat the purpose of it? Pretty sure its purpose is to keep fuel surrounding the pump to keep it cool and to keep a constant flow of fuel while cornering launching etc because there are no baffles in the tank?? If that is true then I know if I just keep the tank full it wouldn't matter but I just want to be sure I have it assembled correctly.

One of the pictures in this looks like there may be one on the pump they are pulling. It's been a long time since I did it, I just can't remember. Hopefully someone else who remembers it chimes in...could also call/email racetronix and ask.

Well I see in the instructions they say take the seal off the old pump and put it on the new one which I think is kind of ridiculous that they couldn't supply a new one in the kit. I never saw one on my stock pump maybe after 25 years it went to **** and it's in the tank in pieces I don't know. I cant find one anywhere unless I buy another pump kit like the ones pictured in my previous post. Could maybe just try a rubber plumbing type washer. I just like to do things correctly the first and only time!
