Front struts 1995 V 6
I'm having trouble disassembling a front strut. I pulled the strut from the car, compressed the spring and removed the nut from the top of the shaft. (It was totally rusted and I cut it off the a chisel) I cannot remove the top, rubber coated top mout from the shaft.
I've tried twisting it, and punching the shaft down through the mount.
Any thoughts or observations would be appreciated.

For one thing, the 4th gen cars donot use struts on the front end. They use upper & lower control arms, a steering knuckle, and coil over shocks. I assume you are trying to remove the shock mount from the upper control arm mount. The shock mount has 2 studs with nuts sticking out of it, and 2 bolts going through the control arm mount and screwing into the shock mount. Loosen all the bolts and nuts part of the way and hammer on them till the shock mount breaks loose.
