Yes I checked the link and it helped a lot, I don't really have the tools or time to trace each vacuum line and see if they are good or not, Im thinkink of calling the local chevy dealer and see if they can look at it...

When I went to O'Reillys to get a new check valve the guy looked at me like I was retarded and didn't know what I was talking about, he tried to sell me like three different valves but I ended up bringing him to my car and showing him what I needed, he said that they didn't have those, I went to the chevy dealer and asked them, the guy sold me one but it looks alittle different then the one I took out of the car, I just searched the O'Reillys website and they have the exact one that I took out, could that be the problem?

This may not matter but when the car is off I can move all three ***** with ease but if the car is running, I can move the fan speed and mode selector freely but the temp control has some resistance when I turn it to the left. Just spitting some ideas out...

Usually the problem is just a vacuum leak somewhere. Unless you've been pulling on the lines which would lead to other problems like pulling them out or tearing them obviously. Did you check with a parts store on whether they loan the gauge out? I'm not sure if they do but heck they loan just about any other tool you need. But yes, typically it is that valve that leaks it dries and cracks.

It's a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) that a climate control system failure must cause max heat and defrost. This is so the windwhield will be clear for safe driving.
If the temp isn't vacuum or computer controlled then only air discharge location is affected (and it sounds like this is the case for your car).
Digging around behind the dash and taking the car to a dealer <gasp> will cause nothing but trouble. Find out why vacuum isn't getting to the dash control panel.
