Default Floater / Sending Unit switch

I already did some research but its all about just fixing or replacing the sending unit. I was wondering if there was an upgrade, or if anyone figured out a way to take a different sending unit from a newer model camaro, in order to fix the bouncing needle. You brake and the needle drops, you accelerate, it goes up, its really hard to tell where you are at when it changes between a whole quarter of a tank. Ii dont care about it never moving then dropping rapidly, I know thats because of the shape of the tank. The problem is this needle jumping between a half tank and a 1/4 tank when stopping and going. Hoping someone has a fix or upgrade for this issue. Or maybe it is an actual issue that Im unaware of. Thank you for any help.

i would say replace the floater and/or check the ground wire make sure contacts are clean coming from the sending unit.

my floater is original and has seen 200k+ miles and doesnt bounce.
it'll only drop a little bit when hitting a sharp turn thats about it.

once you get down so low it doesnt take much to make it move. is it accually jumping around or moving up and down smooth but fast. if it is jumping then it may very well be the sending unit.

the one thing about sending units if you dont put them at the correct marking like the MFG has it marked then youll be seeing the exact problem your experiencing now.

im not sure if it applys to 4th gens but my 3rd gen i had last year gave me the same problem because the idiot(me) didnt mark and note the correct way it was sitting before i pulled it out

making turns didnt budge the needle but stop/go did

its fast and smooth, but even above a half tank, it will drop and raise a whole quarter tank. i dont think my old camaro was even THIS bad with the gauge. I wish there was a way to put a newer unit in that is more accurate and steady. I think this is probably the only fail part of the camaro that ive noticed. i guess they just wanted to make sure people got in the habit to fill up around 1/3rd a tank. haha

Just zip tie a lead weight to the float, that'll keep it from bobbing up and down!
I wouldn't be surprised if your wiper arm is a sloppy fit against the resistance windings, that would allow the float arm to flop more freely.
I've had a couple 4h gens in the past, and neither one acted this way.

i wish i had a bit more experience with the fuel system before the engine. im not sure i can work on everything back there myself or not since ive never worked with that part of the car. but i dont really have the money to have a shop do it, nor do i have the trust in them. i think ill get a chiltons manual sometime soon and i should be good to check all this out that way. Ii found a sending unit for $176 so I might just get a new one and replace it. im glad you all are so helpful. you gave me a lot of things to think about and check out that i wouldnt have thought of. Thank you.
