Default Final Consensus

Alright sorry about my massive number of thread starts but i think im done to my last one and final decision.

i still need opinions though

i am going to remove the two most restrictive parts of the stock exhaust
Y pipe and muffler

now i want a borla muffler, but you cant do that with the stock piping so ill probably go with a magnaflow(i can do that with stock piping right???)

now for the y pipe though, which brand should i buy (as in cheapest)

OK magnaflow or flowmaster 40 series make mufflers that will fit the stock mid pipe no problem. If you want a cheap Y that is not restrictive just keep the factory one. You dont get quality and low restriction with cheap, and the factory one is not that bad. See if the exhaust shop can build you one. Also know that if you dont "flatten" the Y as it goes under the tranny member you will have a really low clearance that will scrape on bumps and stuff.

You may want to take a good look at the part of the tail pipe going over the rear axle. The factory did a pretty good job of squishing that portion of pipe.

Yeah I was about to say the same thing Pete did. The worst part is the over-axle pipe. It bottlenecks twice in less than 2 feet lol. I just put a stock exhaust back on mine and boy is it ugly looking lol.

I would say the stock manifolds are more restrictive than anything else. I wouldn't change the y pipe until you put in some longtube headers. BBK y pipes are supposed to have a great merge; their packages are around $400 for longubes and y pipe.

You can probably put a Borla XR1 bullet on the intermediate pipe some where.
