Default A few quick questions.

I've passed by it countless times when picking up supplies for my car and always wondered if it was worth a ****. I'm talking about the variousoctane boosters out there. I always run 93 octane because that's all that's available around here. I've been curious to try a 100 octane just to see the performance increase and thought about trying some octane boosters. I've heard mixed reviews about such products and thought I'd get your opinions on them. Also, is there in possibility of damaging anything if I run a 100 octane or use octane boosters?

Secondly, the hinge pins on my drivers side door are needing replaced and I was wondering how hard it is to replace them.

Thirdly, I've been losing oil, about a quart every 1500 miles. There's nothing on the floor of the garage and I don't see anything along the undercarriage so I guess it's a slow burn off. Don't have any complaints when it comes to performance so I was just curious if there's anything I could do to put a stop to this, if not, it's not a big deal. I currently run a 10w-30 Mobile full sythetic.

High octane phooey! How about rocket fuel? J.K. Where were you a week or two ago? Do a searchand find the recent posts on octane, it'll answer all your questions, and some questions you probably didn't know you had. But basically, if your car doesn't require it, you don't need it and are just wasting your money. For your oil issue, all I can suggest is to try an oil additive designed to reduce oil consumption and see if it helps.Using about a quart ofoil every 3k miles is considered in the normal range, you're at twice that.

The LS1 up to 2001 are known for burning oil. The only way to get it truly fixed is to have new rings put on the car.
