Has the car been retuned? It shouldn't be causing a problem unless you have some sort of an aftermarket tune on the car. Does the car bog when you try to accelerate from a stop, or does the drop in RPM only happen when you're in the act of stopping?

 

Yes it has been retuned. It has an Aftermarket CAM in it as well...and no it doesn't bog down when I accelerate, only when I stop.

 

Can we get a list of all the modifications the car has, this changes things.

 

As far as I know it only has a CAM, and hooker exhaust but no headers.

 

Sounds like it could be an issue with the tune, but it's hard to say. Your first step should be getting the codes read.

 

Hey Phstratton, I have the same problems with my car 3.8 2000 manual. When thrown in reverse and turnig right really fast my car would do what your describing, it would kind of jump and pull as if someting was broken or the tire was going to pop off. Took it too a mechanic and they couldn't find anything broken or bent but it hasn't done it since, that was 2 years ago. My car also has the RPM drop issue and the lights would dim down, it has only died twice so far and happens usually when the temperature outsideis above 70 or 80. Spent around $600 trying to diagnose this problem at another mechanic and still nothing was found, replaced MAF sensor and EGR Valve it runs a little better but is still goofy. Post what you find on this forum if you can as to what is wrong with it, good luck!

Dont you just love camaros? Mine is junk but I beat the **** out of it every dayand it still keeps going!

 

Its not the cars fault that when you "Throw it in reverse and turn right really fast" that it runs rough.

The guy who owned my camaro before mebeat the **** out of it and i beat the **** out of it and now i dont have a camaro and i pretty much hate my life... learn from these lessons!!!!!! They are fun toys but if you take good care of em you could potentially have them forever.

 

That is all true and I guess I could have said because but a fatty owned my car before me and it has had all the problems with it since the day I have had it, so I really havent made anything worse I have just been replacing a lot of stuff with it and have troubles diagnosing it. I do drive the **** out of it though and nothing has broken yet as a result of my driving.
