Default exhaust

I have a 2k 3.8 and i have a metal rubbing sound coming from under the center console

ive been able to pinpoint it to the exhaust rubbing against a crossmember that holds up a drain tube.

now im not sure if there is supposed to be something here that holds up the exhaust that fell off or broke because the exhaust is sitting on that cross section and causing a vibration in reverse and over bumps.

im going to go to an exhaust shop and have them weld up a hanger but i wanted to know if the car is missing something that is causing this issue.

if not ill just get the hanger welded and let me know if you want pics ill go take some really quick

check the hangers to see if any are bent, it should not hang low enough to hit.

There should be a hanger at the cat that holds that section up I had the same issue and just put a little chunk of denim in-between there

you could also just unbolt that crossmember, it won't have any affect on your performance and handling; did it on my v6 and my ls1 as most aftermarket exhausts will hit the crossmember anyway.

yeah there is no hanger at the catalytic converter, its aftermarket. and im guessing they didnt put the hanger back where is was

which is another problem im having the aftermarket converter is causing the 02's to throw a p0420 catalyst efficiency code. im gonna have a shop weld up the pipe tomorrow and ill worry about the code later...

anybody know of a way to trick the rear 02 on these cars since theres just one, i know the cat works just fine

02 simulator is your best bet to keep it cheap. Or you can live with the engine light until you can get the code tuned out

yeah i could do that and delete the cat all together because i wouldnt mind firming up the shifts with a tuner .... for some reason i feel like the auto trans shifts WAY too early...

what is the "good" tuner for my car im new to camaros

You could also look into an aftermarket crossmember (and get a driveshaft safety loop to boot lol):

Drive Shaft Loops : UMI Performance, Inc.

But yes, get a hanger welded -- an aftermarket crossmember will not solve your vibration issue...
