No the whole repair was 2200 there was also quarter panel damage because it was backed into at a angle so the cars bumper slid into the door and jamb. The shop quotes 300 bucks for the replacement door I found a mint one off a car a guy was parting out for 75 bucks. So they used the rest of the quote for brand new window fuzzys on both sides because they were busted when I got the car.

The car is likely totaled simply based on the amount of labor to repair it. It looks like you are going to need a new door, fender and some body work on the qtr. Honestly I would try to get 3000 or so out of it if it is a V6 or about 4K out of a Z28 then buy it back (usually 10% of the settlement cost) and fix it. My Sarah was damaged far worse than this and the repairs took me about 30 hours and a few $$$ to have a shop do the final paintwork. All and all out of my pocket cost was about $1500.

As for the blinker being on... A blinker does not give permission to change lanes it lets the other drivers know what the driver with the blinker on wants to do. She needed to check her blind spot and or mirrors before attempting to change lanes, blinker or not. That is a federal traffic law not a local one.

Let me drive the 67 for a day and I'll do all the bodywork for free. You can just sit back and relax.

Ouch! 2k for just three pieces? Prices must rise as you go SE.

That I did not know. Always assumed it was based off whether the vehicle could safely be repaired or not.

There is nothing that can not be repaired. It just metal. Metal can be reshaped, welded and shunk to increase thicness and stress relieve. If you do it right you have no limit to how many times it can be done. With out stress relief and shinking the metal will get thin and brittle but it is not a problem for a good metal worker. It all comes back to costs.

I saw a new 3rd gen with 2000 miles on it that hit a 3Ft diameter tree at 70 MPH. No joke the battery was push against the firewal. 22K worth of damage on a 28K car. They fixed it. Same car 15 years later would get totaled from a 6 MPH parking lot wreck.

My insurance has completed its investigation and found me not liable for anything. Since I did not have full coverage they are done. Now I have to deal with Progressive (her insurance). Their investigation is ongoing

I hope the delay is just paper work, Based on the damage to the car the only way it could be my fault was if I went into her lane. SHe already told my insurance company she had her signal on. Which means she admitted she was changing lanes.

I emailed the guy to find out if the door was power or manual windons. If its manual I am golden.

I am not to worried about the quarter. I am not a body man but in school I went thru the training and I have repaired a lot worse. I will even do the paint work myself since it will just be a small blend job. I will either do a seperate thread or just add it to my original build thread.

OMG she told her insurance company I drove into the shoulder (off the leftside of the road) then came back into the left lane and hit her.

She has one problem the is concrete wall there and a 48" shoulder and I was ahead of her when we hit. My insurance said it was open and close her insurance is still investaging.

Seriously even without the concrete, a 47 Year guy with a perfect driving record drove off the left side of the road and with full view rammed his beloved camaro into a car on a nice sunny day. Or a teenage girl with a dog on her lap forgot to look before a lane change.
