That shouldn't affect the starter.

Was one of the starter procedures posted above performed? If so, can you describe the results?

I have been very anxious to try your suggestions but the hubby has been working lots of over time this week!!I am thinking of having my girlfriend come help me out .Sounds like a two person operation.
One thing I have noticed though is that the volt meter on the dash wont get out of the " red zone" when the key is turned .Plenty of power to radio lights etc and when I took the battery to sears he said it was over charged if anything. I was thinking about just going ahead and replacing the starter

Default melted wire??

well i t wasnt the starter but looks like aa melted wire one problem took a few pictures now i am not sure where this is??

try photobucket open free account, download pictures, copy IMG code to your post and the pictures shows.
