engine will not start!!
I have a 2001 3.8
A week or so back all I suddenly noticed a brief hesitation before the engine would turn over. Now the engine fire up.!!!
The battery was tested. its fine
Will not fire up when we tried to" jump"
No sound at all when turning the key but lights, radio ,windows etc all work
I have been hearing a humming coming from the rear of the car when the motor WAS running
ANY IDEAS??
Had an 02 code
replaced sensor 2 (bank one ).light went off afterward on its own

Is the security lamp staying on/flashing? If so, you have a theft-deterrent problem. If not, check the STRTR fuse. Next, try to swap the STARTER relay with the IGN relay. If it cranks, replace the relay that was in the STARTER position. These are all in one of the under-hood fuse/relay boxes.

The security light staying on, but not flashing, is probably not the problem. That indicates the system has a fault and is now disabled. That should not affect the starter, but the car is vulnerable to theft now.
Do the other things I suggested and report back with the results. There are other things to try if that does not work.

IMO step one is get a test light on the small wire on the starter. See if it lights when someone tries to start it. It could just be a dead starter.
If it does not light then play with the dash stuff.
Am I wrong in thinking we have had other people that had the security light on for a long time only to have it start causing issues much later? Normal a Key by pass fixes it up?

You can test the starter and solenoid by yourself using just a very small screwdriver, a long jumper wire with clips, and a fuse (do not use the IGN fuse): Remove the top of the fuse/relay box. Remove the STARTER relay. Gently stick the tip of the small screwdriver into terminal slot B6 as shown. Connect one end of the jumper to the screwdriver. Use a fuse connected to the other end of the jumper and touch the free end of the fuse to the battery positive terminal. The ignition need not be on. The starter should operate as long as you hold the fuse to the positive terminal of the battery.
