engine threw a code p1404
definition
EGR valve stuck open
explanation
while monitoring the EGR valve pintle positionthe ECM detected
the closed position sensor voltage higher than the learned closed position
voltage
Probable Causes
1Failed EGR Valve
2Carbon blockage of the pintle.
can anyone explain this, maybe tell me where it is, what is the pintle?
also, a day after i got the code, i had it checked, than the next time i turned on
my car the SES light was off.
the above explanation was from autozone
thanks

Try removing the EGR and clean it out including the gas passages. The pintle is the part that moves (something like a stopper) and opens and closes the passage between the exhaust and intake.
