Default engine swap advice 3.8

i just got my car back from the mechanic and my car does have a blown head gasket or cracked head. i am buying another another 3.8 liter and just going to replace it. should i pull the motor out from the bottom or top. how hard of a job is it and i do i go about it. can i get it done in a day and how high does the car need to be. anything will help. thanks

pull the motor from the bottom and its kinda a hard thing to do deff not a job for the noob mechanic it will take more than a day prob like 3 if you know what your doing

should i just take it back to the mechanic and pay him 600 to swap it then

If you know some one that will swap the engine out for $600 I would jump on it if you dont know what you are doing. If you do then I say take it out the bottom for the best results. You can get the engine out the bottom with simple shop tools, 4 jack stands, and a cherry picker to lift the car.

You can get the engine out the bottom with simple shop tools, 4 jack stands, and a cherry picker to lift the car.


...that doesn't sound to bad

bottom bottom bottom.. if you have mechanical skills and/or car background the theory of dropping the engines from these cars is clockwork

its not that bad if your gunna do it yourself take the trans out with the motor it will be alot easier to get it all back together outside the car... but ya its a couple bolts to drop the motor the electrical heater lines and thats about it the hardest part is getting all the electrical figured out imo

i use to take my old 80's mustang motor in out constantly but since i got this car i can't even replace a head gasket....these cars are just a pain in the *** to work on. i had plans to throw on headers and a full exhaust but its looking near impossible to remove the stock headers

if you want to do headers now is the time while the engines out also plugs and wires its a little tricky with the engine in place
