my engine has 160,000 miles on it now and i wanna no if i do a full top end kit lik including lifters pushrods timing chain cam heads intake all that how much longer will my lt1 last? i go to the track maybe once a month and will be adding a zex 100 shot as well

 

One thing you need to consider. As an engine wears, all the internal components (rings, bearings, valve guides) wear outat the same time. If you dotop end work, the heads will be nice and tight. But with that many miles,you stand a good chance ofmaking more oil blow past the rings, since they will now be the weak link in the combustion chamber. You could actually turn the engine into a smoker!

 

Well the shot of NOS is not going to help the engine at that mileage. Or do you plan on just blowing it up first??

 

Good chanche the bearings are pretty well worn out, additional strain may just case bearing failure and serious damage. Instead of spending money on ways to add power, why not spend that money on a good engine rebuild.

 

that was my plan was to build a 383 and put all my money into my car but two nights ago i was lookin at parts and my dad says to me how bout instead of pourin all ur money into ur car to make it go 10s u me and ur brother buy a super comp dragster and i thought about it and decided for wat im spendin to go 10s i could buy a dragster get my license and go 7s so im tryin to figure out how to put a lil more pwer into it and keep my engine goin so i can save a for a better toy
