electrical gremlins...
Hi folks - If this topic has been covered before, please kindly point me in the right direction ...
1998 Camaro convertible, V6, std shift. Bought the car used a little over a year a go. It's my wife's car, so I don't drive it on a regular basis. Ever since we bought it, the interior lights have not worked. Slightly annoying, but not the end of the world. However, my wife said that once in a blue moon the radio would cut out... the last time it cut out for quite a bit of time (30 sec?) but also noticed that while the radio was cut out, she could not roll the windows up or down. Car continued to run.
Are all these issues related? What should I be looking for?

Depending on what kind of aftermarket stuff the previous owner has wired in, radio or parts on the door it could just be a janked up wiring issue. A way to rule things out, since you have a BCM, is to possibly find someone with a snap on scanner. They can pick up the different codes which are used to diagnose the BCM.

Thanks - When I was doing research before on the issue w/the interior lights it was pointing to the BCM. Pardon my ignorance, but was a "snap on scanner" ... is this the same thing that I can borrow from any Auto Zone, etc and plug into the ODBC and get codes, or is this something else? As far as after market stuff... I actually installed a new radio for her (christmas present) replacing an older aftermarket. All of the speaker wires were good (after I got done with them ) and I used the proper pigtail, also used bullet connectors for all of the speaker connections to the head unit...point being I am pretty confident with the radio wiring. It was doing it B4 the new radio and is doing it after, so suspect the BCM. Thanks!

Snap On is the brand name, higher end equipment. Usually the codes for BCM are only accessible with dealerships or manufacturers but the higher end equipment can check these things. If you have a shop around with that equipment they might be able to help you.
