ECU and Error Codes Help
Hey everyone, new here.
I've got a 94 3.4 auto Camaro that I'm about to give up on, it's become totally undrivable.
I have 32 different codes, and that's after replacing the ECU. Car won't shift right, engine barely runs, and recently it's running on 5 cylinders. The shift indicator light is always on park, the speedo isn't working, SES light comes and goes, no security issues that I can find, vats is working. I'm totally lost.
Some of the codes are just garbled text. I've heard it can be a short in the 5v reference line, but I don't even know where to start.
Any other common things to replace? I'm heartbroken, I love this car and I really want it working right. Please help.

In a situation like this your best bet is to find an expert with the tools and the talent. You do not just want to throw parts at it because you are as likely to cause more problems making finding the original issue harder to find.
After saying that I know the first thing I would do is add secondary grounds everywhere from the battery to the engine, battery to chassis, battery to transmission and lastly chassis to the PCM. Its been my experience whenever you crazy unexplainable electrical issues it is either a bad ground or a place in the harness that was either on fire or attracted by rodents. Believe or not a bad ground will do some crazy things. Power starts looking for a ground and it can flow backwards through one system then into another system and before you know it you turn signal it blinking you check engine light on and off.
Whoever mentioned the 5-volt reference signal is not wrong. you can tie into any sensor with a voltmeter if it is disconnected one side should be 5 volts. If you can tap into that wire and start the car your 5 volts should not change much. If it does change you can start disconnecting things to see what is changing it.
