Drive shaft out of balance

I might just have to do that... quick question... does the cover over the drive shaft have to be there for anything or if it is banged up from being in the ditch can I remove it without any problems?

What cover? There is a a center support and the support between rear and the trans. I can not think of anything down there that is just a cover.

im pretty sure hes talking about the torque arm, and if so no you NEED that it keeps your pinion angle right. and if its bent you need to replace it before you start driving the car... unless you like replacing parts

Yes, I was talking about the torque arm... and from what I have noticed it looks like it is fine. I should hopefully have another driveshaft to drop in here soon and hopefully that will take care of this shaking issue.

ya the 2 piece is disgustingly heavy

On the 95 z28 the driveshaft is pretty heavy. Idk if its a 2 piece though

no only the V6 got the 2 piece. somewhere on here there is the weight of the different shafts, i may be able to find it.

I weighed my 3rd/4th gen one piece driveshafts when I did a change...
Steel: 16 lbs.
Aluminum: 12 lbs.
Keep in mind, although the two piece driveshaft will be a bit heavier, that's not spun weight (the actual weight of the shaft), as part of it consists of the bearing block.
