Default Door guard (/side trim/whatever) removal

I love the smell of Goo Gone.

I wasn't able to find any pictures of 4th Gens with the plastic side molding gone so I decided to take the plunge, mostly because mine was beginning to crack but also to change the look a little. I've heard of using floss or fishing line, but all that stuff did was break. My next choice was Goo Gone.

I squirted it all along the top of the molding so it would seep down into the tape. Don't worry, it didn't damage my paint. But it still didn't let the floss work. I got frustrated after breaking a piece of fishing line and took a screw driver to it. I used the screw driver to pry (by twisting the screw driver) the trim away from the door enough to get my fingers in. I then grabbed the trim and it just pulled right off, leaving half the goo behind. I doused what was left with Goo Gone and rubbed it off with my thumbs. It took a while but I got it done on both sides.

I noticed that on a 15 year old car, paint fades. So there is a stripe down each side. There's also a lot of grime along the top portion which had to be washed off. Unfortunately on the passenger side I managed to pull some of the paint off too which sucks, but will be fixed in the next little while anyways.

I'll post some pictures of it shortly.
