Do you think this is a good deal?
Or maybe a semi truck landed on it tipping over in a cross-wind!

I would think if it was a tree it would say that but they could list the tree falling due to wind making it an act of God, as opposed to a moron cutting a tree down. But then again wind can blow more than trees.
You want to be sure it was not water damage. Flood water can clean up real easy and cause problems right up to the day the car is parted out. Normally insurance sells water damaged cars at salvage (parts only) and that is reflected on the title. But sometimes they fall through the cracks and someone forget to submit the paper work to the DMV. I watch a story recently of an insurance company selling several hundred flood cars at a salvage auction without title changes. They cannot be prosecuted because the auction and the cars themselves where marked “Salvage, for parts only”. But they all had clean titles. Even the carfax showed they where totaled flood cars. The shady dealers just had to wait till someone did not ask for a carfax.
At least with "wind damage" you can check the body gaps and see if the work was done right. Also it is what it is. Meaning if it leaks in the rain then it leaks in the rain it is not going to get progressively worse and have safety items fail suddenly.
