Default Decide My fate..

As i start researching on the GM side of the tracks, i really can't decide which direction to travel with my new project guys. Any ideas out there. Got a 95 z-28 T-Tops. Has the stock lt-1. Should i take that out, rebuild that motor, 383, something bigger? Also, what form of Forced Induction are our motors responding too best? I was thinking maybe keep the Lt1 in place, rebuild, forge, and maybe some type of FI. Can this gen of camaro handle something as big as the infamous 454

The LT1 is a high compression motor, meaning even if you went fully forged, you'd also have to use lower compression pistons/heads with larger combustion chambers/etc./etc. to run a super/turbocharger effectively (more than 8 pounds fo boost).

With that said, these motors LOVE nitrous, and can handle a fair amount with the right internals, given the iron block.

If you want mid tens and fully streetable, I'd suggest: All bolt-ons, H/C/I (slightly milder than massive nitrous cam, you won't need a massive cam with your nitrous behind you.), forged, and a BIG shot of the gas. That, some suspension goodies, and you should be good to go.

But first, what are the specs of the car? AT/M6, miles, etc.?

it's the m6, with a little under 80k on it. Bought it used with front damage for 1500, and bought another v6 used one with like 120k on it just for parts, scrapping.

Also, my problem with the bottle. (which is why i was leaning towards the other FI forms) is..it's not always ready to use you know. I wanna be able to have the ***** to pull on most of the hot rods on the streets. Like maybe a lil under 550 on demand. With either all NA or with a motor/fi combo. Which with nitrous, you would have to have the remote bottle open, and hopefully have the bottle filled. super/turbo is not a worry..which being the LT1 is so highly compressed is why i was considering a motor swap.

Stock, you can beat almost any other car out there that is stock, except for a very few. I've race 2 of the 2008 style mustangs and outrun one on the interstate, I was pegged out at 155 and the other was from a red light and i gained about an inch every time he shifted (I could shift faster) and he let of at about 140. So, you have never had a fourth gen, ts way more power than any other generation stock. STS has a turbo system that i heard was good but have never personally had one.

I just owned an 08 GT. Was stolen. I raced a few z's on the track. Was usually a pretty close race. STS has always had pretty decent turbo systems. Thanks for the info!

I would love to drive a turbo charged lt1. I used to have an eclipse when i was 16 with the 1.8 and for a 4 banger it moved, but nothing like my Z stock. I can't imagine the tickets i could get with a turbo on it

well you read through wat im doin (i think lol) if you did what im doin using ported stock heads instead of the aftermarket youd have what you want. but imo if i was you id go with a procharged forged 355. the sts kit is nice but ive never heard of one runnin more then 8lbs of boost. look into prochargers you could run over 20lbs of boost with the right one (not smart on street) but there a nice kit. look into AI for there 200cc ported heads/custom cam. and maybe even a shortblock from AI. your trans will handle all that so other then the motor your gonna need suspension/a rear for the car to run those times.
