Default A couple of questions

Okay guys, I have to order and install a new oil pan and gasket. I know I have an okay understanding of what I need to do but I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any tutorials on how to do it so I don't mess up anything?

a couple of the guys have split the gasket for the dip stick tube so the pan dosent have to come out just dropped. they worked the gasket under the crank and oil pickup somehow. have not heard how it worked out,,, if it leaked or not. seems like it would make it hard to get clean surfaces for gasket, make sure to get some rvt at the corners were the pan meets the block on back at each side of the rear seal, and each side where the pan meets the front cover and block on the front.

Thanks for your reply and I will definitely consider that for the future but I actually need to replace the entire pan. The guy I bought it from scraped somthing ( thinking a large speed bump ) and put a pretty sizeable hole in it. I was thinking about welding it but where it's at it would still need to be removed. Thanks for the help though
