Default correct OBD1 scanner?

Ok, I bought an OBD1 scanner to adapt to my OBD2 connector in my 95 car using the diagram http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg But, the scanner I bought only has 3 pins. Did I buy the wrong one? Part # 3123 from Innova. I bought it at O'reily's auto part store.

To read codes from your car you need a real OBDI scanner, what you purchased is a plain BOBDIcode reader, and it won't work with your car. Get a OBDI scanner and then use the adapter cable.

Get a Autoxray EZ-Scan 6000 -- and you'll be fine.

Innova makes very good code readers. I have a '94 Chevy diesel 3/4 ton truck and a '98 Chevy Camaro. Having two older vehicles, I needed a code reader. I bought the 3120b which does OBD I and OBD II. I'm very happy with it. I purchased it on Amazon for $150.

I took a look at your .jpg, scary! You could have done this much with a wire.

Actron CP9185 is a good one as well. Works on my 94 OBD1 as well as OBD2.

yup yup or the older 9145

you don't need a power cable either, just the battery within the unit itself

you aren't going to find a $99 cheapo reader which works

I think I paid like $125 for mine off ebay (used), then another $40 for the OBD1 cable from amazon. It was worth every cent for me.
