Default Coolant Smell

Hey Guys I am having an issue when I drive my Camaro (2002 V6) I get the wiff every now and then of coolant. I have looked up and down and can not find and visible leaks nothing dripping on the ground nothing. Today I was looking and I found a small pool of coolant on the top of the engine drivers side under the area where it says series II on the top of the engine Here is a picture to kind of show you where the puddle is. Please help.

I also experienced this. Replacing an old radiator cap fixed it for me!

you can rent a coolent system pressure gage from just about any of the chain parts store i would rent one and start there when you have it under pressure wiggle and move any coolent lines just incase theres a pin hole somewere i had a coolent leak well a few leaks even blew out one of the water pump gaskets turned out the radiater cap was bad when i had the pressure gage on the cap it was pegged all the way to 25 pounds and still did not open to much pressure in the system made all the hoses swell intill the would just split open so a 5 dollar cap cost me about 4 hundred just in parts those heater hoses a crazy money and i hear the ones on the v6 are even worse then the v8 something about fittings that go into the heater core

I had a leak there before as well. It is coming from between the upper and lower intake gaskets. One way to fix this is to replace the gasket and use a little sealant around the 2 O-rings... That is a pretty big job. I made sure my thermostat housing was good and tight (one of the T-stat bolts helps hold the UIM and LIM together) and then used a quality block seal. Stopped that leak dead.

Now I just found another water leak for my engine and it is a pretty common spot but one you cant see very well. It is one of the plastic elbows that go from the tensioner assy to the LIM It is pretty hard to see back there and the coolant will prolly not puddle any where but evaporate on the hot engine parts.
