Default Convertible in cold weather

I am considering a convertible but do not have a garage to keep the car parked in. I live in Maine, how are convertibles in cold weather climates? I would not have the car garaged. I would not be driving with the top down, but when closed, are they drafty in the winter and really cold weather?

Is leaving a convertible outside in snow and cold winter conditions damaging to the canvas top and life of the top?
How about clearing ice/snow off a convertible roof, are they brittle when frozen, im concerned about tearing the roof while scraping snow off of it?

Is keeping a convertible outside (not garaged) damaging to the life of a top?
