Have been working on friends 1995 convertible and having problem with top not wanting to go down all the way...stops about half way down (so she says).Any suggestions? Replaced the drivers window motor not long ago and today plan on replacing passenger side now that it isn't working. Haven't even looked at the top yet but wanted to ask before I got into it what I should be looking for. Thanks for any help. New here, but have had such good luck finding out things for my 1974 Corvette on the Corvette Forum, thought this would be perfect place to get help for this Camaro since I'll be doing most of the work on it when needed.

The first thing I would look for, as dumb as it may sound, is to make sure there isn't anything under the mechanism that's blocking the way. Look down in the wells with the top up first. If nothings there, when the top stops at half-mast, try pushing down lightly on both sides to see where the bind is. Could just need a good oiling, or an arm could be bent. Also listen to hear if the hydraulic pump is making a whining noise, it could be sucking air if the fluid is low.
And welcome to another old Vette guy, I have three (for now) myself!

i agree with it may need some oiling...when i tried adjusting mine to make it fit better, we tightened a couple bolts too much and it wouldn't let it come down all the way. just something to think about

Sorry i can not help as to where the motor is but sounds like classic thick fluid. Your system is a closed system but over the years small particals from the o-rings and the hoses combind with the fact the the ATF fluid starts to seperate and you combind colder temps and you end up with a weak top. So many pumps have been changed to fix this.
First thing is double check what type of fluid. Make sure itATF.I am not sure about 4th gens but most rag top pumps are under where the tops sits when open. Normallywith the top up you remove theinternal boot behind tha back seat. Make sure you figure out how to add fluid then just pop a line and drain about 80% then refill. DO NOT run the pump out of fluid! Repeat till what you are getting outlooks good. You may want to run the top all the way up and downagain you make sure you got most of the crap out of the cylinders.

I agree with the above but heres my 2 cents. The pump is in the trunk on the drivers side (covered by carpet). would try the up down switch first because mine was doing the same thing and it was the switch $35. Good luck.
