hey guys...i got a 97 ss. i was told that my hood is just as good as cold air intake systems but is that true? i don't really like the look of having the filter right on top of the engine bay and am really just looking for a way to dress it up a little. i'd like to have it look more like an ls1 but realize that's probably not possible. any help would be awesome!

 

Don't try to make it look like an LS1! Keep your LT pride! On the performace side of things, your "ram air" which is only "ramming" at over 100 mph probably flows as good as an aftermarket CAI. The only performance benefit that I can think that you may get from an aftermarket kit is a bit cooler air because it doesn't have to run over the top of the motor.

 

...what's wrong with the way your LT1 looks? That's a smokin' ride, enjoy it for what it is!

oh i'm more than proud of my lt1, i just hate the huge filter sitting right on top of the motor...i love what nike did there but i was just wondering if i'd get much out of a CAI is all. thanks though guys! and thanks for the compliments

 

Performance wise you'll probably get nothing, but if you like the way it looks, go for it.
