well went to the shop and they said they don't mess with hydraulic systems so they couldn't bleed it for me. they also said that it shouldn't need to be bled since nothing got tampered with. they said that the clutch it self was the problem and that it was basically my fault for buying an after market clutch. sooooo im pretty much s.o.l.

next step get another shop to look at it. seems like crappy service. should not matter if its a aftermarket clutch. as far as that goes what the heck a constitutes aftermarket clutch? if its oem i guess. i would be pissed.

Did you supply the clutch parts, or buy it from them?
They're just being ****s about the bleeding too. Any shop that installs clutches can and should know how to work with the hydraulic portion since it's part of the operation. And it doesn't take a mechanical Einstein to bleed it either.

no i supplied the parts. it came with clutch disk, pressure plate, alignment tool, throw out and pilot bearings.
and yes u r right about the hydraulic thing, the said it was shop policy, they don't mess with hydraulic systems on manual cars. which schocked the hell outta me. these guys were supposed to be ASE cetified, i can't imagine what on earth compelled them to not do hydraulic systems.

Many shops have that policy when you supply the parts. When they buy the parts, they can try to go after the manufacturer to get reimbursed for their time if something turns up defective. When you supply the parts, it's your problem. You really can't blame them for that. But not being able to bleed the system is stupid. I think they just wanted to get rid of you. If you were to do a complete clutch replace on your car, where it's never been done before, you would be a fool not to replace the slave at the same time. What would they do, call in a "hydraulic specialist"? Right!

I don't know if this helps or not but I just recently got my syncros replaced in my tranny and for about 2.5 weeks I had trouble with my clutch. I'm pretty sure this is because they have to mess with the clutch to get to the tranny? :/ But the day I left the shop I had barely any pressure in the clutch and it didn't engage until I was at the floor. I also had problems with it staying in gear. I would shift into 2nd and 3rd and it would force itself back out. I gave it some time and it slowly went back to normal. I guessed it just needed time for everything to break in? Have you noticed it getting better since over time?

How do you install a clutch without disconnecting the hydraulic? I know in my 4th gen it would be a nightmare to try to keep the trans that close to the car thru the whole process. Yours must be external mounted slave? Before I pulled anything a part I would bleed the clutch.
ASE cert have many level and many areas. When I Got mine I took 4 tests in one night, the max allowed. Back then there was 7 tests in all. Some of the tests where real basic. You only need to pass one test to be certified. I never went back for the other 3 cause there was no real reason. Once your ASE certified No one ever asks ASE certified in what.
