cleaning cylinder heads
i took the cylinder heads off my ls1 donor engine and what to know the best way to clean it so i can re-sale them? would brake cleaner work or should i use something more designed for them?

Are we talking about the grunge on the outside (use engine degreaser and a putty knife), or carbon build up inside (let soak with WD40, scrape/wire wheel)? Brake cleaner will work well to do a final cleaning outside, and carb cleaner on the inside.

If you go that route, make sure you have plenty of ventilation and no smoking around it.
I have had good luck soaking heads in my parts washer for a few days and then some time with wire and nylon brushes to get all of the gunk off. My parts washer is filled with mineral spirits.

aluminum dust is supposedly linked to crazy disease like alzheimers.. so if u bust out da wire wheel make sure u wear a mask...
and make sure ur wire wheel is ultra fine if you are taking it to any machined surface of the head
