Default Cig Lighter

Ok so Im having problems getting my cig lighter to work, I thought it may be a fuse but that wasn't the issue so I got a new lighter to replace the old one. I pulled the new one out and now I can't figure out how to put the new one in, I keep blowing my fuses and I have no idea what is wrong or what to do. HELP!

threre pretty simple you hook the wires back up and i stick my finger in the outside part and turn it intill snug if you keep blowing fuses check the wires and make sure there not touching if you turn the half that goes inside the dash you twist the wires and put stress on them

sounds like a wiring or plug issue, does the fuse blow without the lighter wiring harness being plugged in to the lighter fixture? get the volt/ohm meter out and test the hot wire at the harness as well. see if it shows a ground. can you tell if someone tried to hook a aftermarket device to it

Ok so I think I figured out why the fuses kept blowing, the guy at the dealership sold me the wrong lighter! I got the right one now and plugged the wires in, fuses dont blow but still doesn't work. Im thinking maybe there isn't any power there anymore? This may be a stupid question but I just want to double check, red wire is hot and black is ground? Does it matter which wire goes were on the lighter? Im going to take some pictures of it today and post them on here.

ground goes on the base and hot goes to the post. if you have a volt meter you can check for juice and ground at the wires to be sure.
