Cheap instant Horse Power.
Ok so I priced out a forced air induction system and quickley realised that it wasnt gonna happen. So what is a forced air induction system? Its a better way of getting air into your engine blah blah blah.. So you can spend 2-3 hunded $$ for a K&N system or SLP or AIRAID or what ever after market system is available...How about under $40.???????
So this is what I did. I work for a lumber yard with a hardware department, so some things I needed were slightly cheeper. I purchased an after market air filter made by Spectre part#8138for $24.99 at the local PepBoys. Then @ (ding ding ding) Doyle Lumber in Andover Ma 43 River Rd, I bought 3"x8' lenght of aluminum flexible vent pipe. Next I managed to find a few 3" hose clamps in my garage with a 2" to 2 1/2" threaded PVC reducer. So I took off the air box that sits down over the the radiator (kinda looks like a rams head) detached it from the engine. Scribed out a circle slightly larger than 2". Taking my dremel tool I cut out the circle not making the hole size bigger than the PVC adaptor. With a little filing I managed to thread the fitting into the side of the air box (drivers side.) I removed the wiring junction behind the headlight and snaked the tubing down into the fog light bay. Now my car didnt come with fog lights so those holes are open. I bent the flexible tubing to the best way possible and attached the filter to the end placing it inside the fog light hole. Now when I tell you it made a difference, I am not talking a full sec. of your E.T. Its is very noticible, the engine breathes better and revs faster. Theonly problem I can see running into is water being sucked up in there from either a puddle or rain. I haven run into that problem quite yet.
It doesnt look like something from Summit or SLP, but its cheap and cool to show your buddies that you made someting that actually works well. I did leave the entire stock air filter system in place fully functional, due to the fact that this was expermental. I am trying to figure out a way to do it to the other side, finding a route to run the tubing is not as easy on the passengers side. I will take some pictures and get them up.

Thanks, kinda proud. Now if I could figure out a path for the other side...that would be really cool. It probably took all of a few hours due to the fact of finding the right hardware and making it work with out destroying the air box.
Next im gonna set up a propane injection system so I can spray a quick boost into the air intake....
Just Kiding!!!!!!! Where would I mount my Charbroil grill?
Kinda looks looks like the Tin Man is changing my spark plugs.

I wondered if someone else used the driver side foglite opening for an intake!
My cheap duct follows yr route but turns into the space infront of the radiators, since my Whisperlid takes air there.
