car suddenly wont start.. HELP!!
hey guys. im new to camaros, mostly a 60's truck guy. my sister has a 2000 camaro 3.8 v6 that just stoped starting. the ignition lock cover has been very wobblely and can be removed. its been like this for a long time. the wires that should be attached are not. it has not had any issues ever until yesterday. ive been trying to find out what the hell is wrong. no click no nothing. like a dead battery, witch i suspected at first, used jumper wires and still nothing. used the remote to unlock the doors to see if it would deactivate the security alarm, and still nothing. SECURITY flashes maybe once per second. im going crazy trying to figure out how to get it going.... please help!!
it has been like that for over a year with no problems.. so now all of a sudden it just doesn't work. i got a new ignition lock from autozone. any thing special about removing the steering wheel to replace the lock, any special tools? im prety mechanically inclined so i think i can do this.
sounds like vats to me. could be bad ignition switch or stuck or failing neutral switch. there is allot of good info in the how to and faq sticky at the top of the 4th gen section. like this https://camaroforums.com/forum/4th-g...mn-info-64804/ also good info at shbox, links for that also in the how to and faq sticky here https://camaroforums.com/forum/4th-g...rt-here-38462/

alright guys since the wires are already cut i figured id try to bypass it first. the key resistance is 350 measured across the pellet. witch is the same as if i just lay the contacts on the key itself. witch is not even on the chart. what should i do?
you may be able to get the right resistance from a dealer using your vin number. also can get some resistors and try each of the 15 different values. you could check for power to the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column where it meets the under dash to at least know that its not the ignition switch. check all your fuses.
