Cant get gas into the tank

Cant get gas into the tank
This is my first post on the camaro forum.
I bought this 99 camaro a couple of weeks ago, and the issue I have is getting gas into the tank. There is some kind of venting issue and thats what im trying to figure out. The tank is not venting properly when you put gas in the car. The fill tube is very small and the typical fuel nozzle will fill it completly. With that, there is no where for the fumes/vapor to escape.
I have no SES light and the car runs fine. With talking with other people, one of the main suggestions is the charcoal canister or the purge solonoid. Both of which look like a real pain to get at. I was under the car yesterday looking at it.
Hope you guys can help.
Thanks

RE: Cant get gas into the tank
I searched the LS1tech site too and there was info there, but no real solutions.
People suggested turning the nozzle upsidedown. That doesnt work.
The problem here is the fill pipe is very small. Its about the size of most gas station nozzles. When fuel is going in, the air cant get out.

i have never heard of this problem..... sometimes the fuel will back up, it depends on the speed of the pump. try just pumping it a little slower. most nozzles have several teeth on the lock, pick a slower one and see.

Trust me when I tell you, the pumps cant pump slow enough to keep the gas from spilling back out.
If I use a gas can, I can pour it slow enough to keep it from spilling.
Its a venting issue, just dont know where.

Then check the pipe that runs to the gas tank. Possible that that there may be anbent or smashed pipe that may be resricting the flow of fuel which may be causing the back flow and causeing the pump to turn off?!??!?

RE: Cant get gas into the tank
Here the latest.
I ran a very long coat hanger in the filler neck and hit nothing.
I was also able to test the purge solonoid and that appears to be working fine. I took off the vacuum line with the car running. I could here a vacuum leak. I took of the power connection and could hear/feel the difference between being on or off.
